BCXB 1956 - '58 participant's medal document

Again, Comrade Bebresh (or Bebrish) graces our pages with his presence.
This '56 dated doc came with a medal that did not have an "X" on the grill. A8 says these are all screwbacks but this is a pinback. My guess is just a slight oversight on their part.
I noticed today is my 10 year anniversary since joining this wonderful forum
Note the pre-printed stamp on this and the immediately preceding doc. The silver medal document in two posts above this seems to have an actual ink stamp.

Re: BCXB & BDHX documents

Would be interesting to figure out what his actual surname was. On a quick search, it appears that Bebrish (Бебриш) is a fairly common Latvian surname. I may be wrong, but I remember vaguely that a male in Latvian should be pronounced (maybe spelled as well) as Bebrishs (Бебришс). My first instinct on seeing Bebreshe was that the last "e" should have been a cyrillic "c".

At the same time, Bebresh or Bebreshe seems to be Bulgarian; search for Bedrish gave me a Bedrish Hussein - also from a Bulgarian website :-)

Quite a set!

Re: BCXB & BDHX documents

In any event the info I'm getting tonight is that documents dated in one year are usually for the actual award from the year previous. In other words a 1956 document is usually for a 1955 award. That may explain some discrepancies.

Re: All-Union Agricultural Exhibition Medals.

Here is a small BCXB badge awarded in 1956 to Leonid Anatolevich Dolgikh. I think hr was an associate professor of an agricultural institute of some kind?

Nice one Tom! I love these 50s awards, you get so much more information on the recipient than you do with the later ones.

Re: All-Union Agricultural Exhibition Medals.

Thanks Simon, It's my first one of these badges. I've grown quote fond of it though and would quite like to buy a couple more.

It's good that there is so much information on the award document, it adds a lot of background to such a small and relativley common badge.

Re: All-Union Agricultural Exhibition Medals.

The key quality of the Medals of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition over the later Medals of the Exhibition Of Achievements Of The National Economy is the very fact they have the space for the recipients position etc. The reformed "National Economy" documents are very different and don't leave space for any details.

These Agricultural Medals along with many Ministerial Badges (such as those for the five year plans etc.) can offer a considerable about of information on the recipient that other Agricultural/Labour awards awarded by the State (Labour Glory for example) where there is usually only a recipient's name with even the date of one of the many Ukazes obscured.

It is also of note that many of these Agricultural workers (with positions listed on the document) can also be found on "the site", where they can be shown in their war time combat role. Many of these farmers scored notches on their weapons.

Also being "Agricultural" myself, I have participated in and attended many Agricultural "Exhibitions" so know exactly what it is all about. I do enjoy bringing these items "back to the farm".
