I have been collecting badges along side orders and medals since I began, and have recently become interested in this type of badge. From what I can see, and from what has been said in this forum, there doesn't seem to be too much interest (at least to date) in forging these. Am I correct in thinking this?

Greg,

These badges, although not costing thousands, are somewhat valuable. As such, it is a profitable endeavor to forge them. Remember that they forge things costing far less than these are worth...

I have seen a few fakes of these here in St Petersburg.

Thanks, Marc. In the near future, I may post a couple of images to "run by you" prior to purchasing to get your opinion.

I am not sure about this one. It looks like a home made variation.
Also, there is no such variation in the literature of Railroad awards.

Once again a few pictures
The insignia has the line for the number,
the number is missing.

The line is exectly where the number should be, but not the srewback. There was NO screwback in this variation. Earlier variations - YES.
The badge is original. However, the screwback is home made. Maybe the attachment ring was broken, or other reason.

So little chance the awardee broke his suspension and improvised a repair? (or prefered it that way)
