The forum´s name speaks for itself. It is SOVIET. I also find that imperial stuff should be at another different website.
What I´m going to say now, it is NOT intended to ironize and thus, offend the members who are in behalf of the idea of creating an Imperial Russian forum, but, if you are so interested in creating one, why don´t you gather and create an autonomous one by yourselves?

REMEMBER: It is only a suggestion and not an irony. If someone has been offended for what I said, please accept my apologies.

Esteban

Esteban:

Although you make sence, explain this: Why do we them discuss post soviet, Russian Federation Awards?

No matter how hard one tries to limit the scope of this forum, I believe that there will always be some amount of spillover from other fields. Many items, of course, owe their heritage and designs to Imperial awards, just as many articles introduced since the collapse owe their lineage to the Soviets. I think it is interesting AND useful to introduce this occasional thread to enhance our knowledge of Soviet awards. I think all of us derive some true value from it. I have learned SO much from this forum, and though I believe it should remain focused, an occasional venture outside can only help to enhance our collective knowledge of the subject matter.

Over a year has gone since the last comment on this subject. Was there ever more background discussion on this? Was there a decision reached?

You can draw the conclusion from the fact that there is NO such section on the boards.

I vote YES on Imperial Russian section for our Forum.
Our Forum is not ONLY SOVIET UNION at this time. It's also about after Soviet time and other Socialist Countries. They are not USSR either.
I would like to learn more about the awards of Russia, which is little more related to the history of Soviet Union than Bulgaria, Romania, China, Mongolia, etc. We discuss awards of those countries here.

Eric.

P.S. BTW, how to vote? It says "You already voted on this poll", but I did not

As I recall the Soviet order of Glory developed out of the Imperial Order of St. George (please correct me if I'm wrong), so there is some continuity between Imperial and Soviet on this front at least.

I think it would be useful to see some discussion on them in this light.

Tal, I can see that. I was inquiring if this was discussed further amongst the mods and admins and put on hold, approved for a later date or cancelled outright. I couldn't read a message puting this thread to rest.

At the moment, the word from the Stavka is "NO!".

I can create something like this, but I really don't want it to be visible in main forum. The reason is that I feel we are already diverging away from the core 3 groups enough. These groups are, Soviet Titles, Soviet Orders, and Soviet Medals. I'd be willing to place this Imperial group within the Soviet Bloc forum. I know it's somewhat inappropriate, but so is the Russian Federation group and we all seem to be getting along fine with that. If this is acceptable, voice your opinion..
