Lieutenant-General of the Russian Air Force

A simple question : on this pic, these two Russian Air Force officers have different caps, with different badges.
Is there any reason why ? Or is it just that the one on the right (Lieutenant-General) has an older version ?

hat/tunic

I do not think there is much to explain here; they are using a mix an match of late and post soviet uniform insignia. DD

Thanks, Doug.
But, as far as you know, isn't there today a Russian regulation that forbides to wear "old" Soviet uniforms ? Or am I wrong ? This pic is very recent (2005).

Cheers.

regs

I am sure there are such regulations, but i also know that generals have leeway to more or less do as they choose, within reason.

Russian uniforms

The officer on the left is wearing a ground forces hat. The officer on the far right is wearing an air/air defense forces hat. I can't quite make out the insignia on the breast tab of the officer in the middle -- but it appears to be an air defense forces insignia. As to the camo uniforms, it looks like all branches of the Russian Armed Forces have become accustomed to wearing camo as a working uniform.

This is so sad and boring... camo uniforms are for field ops not daily wear... US-ification :(

Well, the US has had lame service uniforms since about 1957. I'd rather wear cammies too :)

Christophe,

It is written "Военно-Воздушные Силы", in other terms, AirForce.
