Here is the Unification Of The State 1956-57 Medal (ပြည်နယ်ပြည်ထောင်သာသူ ၁၉၅၆-၅၇). The Union Of Burma's 4th September 1947 constitution gave each of the States in the Union Of Burma a 10 year "get-out clause". The countdown to the end of the period was a rather turbulent period, the National Chinese had been active in the north, ethnic conflicts, armed insurrections and changes of government. The union was forged despite all these issues and continues to this day.

The rather light formerly chrome plated copper Medal depicts one of the key figures in the creation of an independent Burma, General Aung San.

Due to political turmoil and the rewriting of history, these early Burmese Medals are rather difficult to track down.
