Johann-Gottfried Herder Medal.

JOHANN-GOTTFRIED-HERDER-MEDAILLE

The Johann Gottfried Herder medal was awarded in memory of Johann Gottfried Herder to Russian language teachers, pupils, students and apprentices for outstanding achievements in the Russian language .
Awarded for the first time on the eve of the Tag der Befreiung, 7th May 1957 to 20 Russian teachers.
From 1958 also awarded to high school graduates, students and apprentices for outstanding achievements in Russian language.
Awarded in three classes, Gold, silver and bronze, in each case with enamelled honour clip.
The medal was presented on commemorative events, often organised by the society for GermanSoviet friendship.

blue clasp:

1957-1963 for pupils, students and teachers
1957-1972 for pupils and students
1957-1989 for pupils

With a grey or green clasp:

1973-1989 for students

With a red clasp:

1964-1989 for teachers
