RBL T3v1

Hi,

yesterday this early RBL came to my collection. Really nice looking and early piece, so i share pic's with you also. This one i found here in Estonia & didn't pay much for it. But one thing i wan't to ask from you also, how much can be estimated price for RBL T3V2 ( also jumbo ) with order book, awarded 1949?
I don't see them nowhere, so it's very hard to get indication of price.
Thankjuuu

Lauri,

I'd say you should be expecting to pay close to $100 for such set.

I recently bought early flatback BOH with a doc for $85. Comparable RBL would be in the same range.

really good prices u have in the US. Here we don't have at all early RBL and BH- s and if to talk abt same things with documents, this is almost 'mission impossible'. Early BH with doc i have in my collection. But not documented Jumbo. I know that one early RBL nr 9**** with doc was sold lately with price abt 260 usd here.... Same situation with all documents, even documents for jubilee medals u can not find anymore in the open flea markets. Everything is cone. Grazy, but that's the situation.

Just bought this RBL type 3 variation 1. The S/N is actually lower than the lowest recorded number in PMD's book. For your info.

Danny,

According to the Mondvor site I guess it should be a T3V2, even thought the S/N is a bit lower than the lowest number they mention for this Variation (22,911). So yours should be now the lowest S/N ovserved for this Variation, I guess.
According to PMD it's indeed a T3V1, and yours is still the lowest S/N observed for this Variation! Bravo!
Beautiful piece! Congrats!

Rusty, can you please confirm this?

Thanks,

Dolf

Red Banner of Labor T6

Gentlemen,

For your viewing enjoyment, a very unusual Order of the Red Banner of Labor Type 6 that I brought back from my last trip to St Petersburg. It is struck in brass.

I agree! :D

Marc,

The brass definitely gives it a completely different look (beyond the obvious color difference I mean). Any explanation on its origin or why it was cast this way?

Sean,
It was not cast, but struck regularly at the mint. I believe that it is one of the pieces they strike to test and adjust the die pressure before striking the actual orders. Once the press has been adjusted, the test pieces are simply discarded and destroyed, so, the real question here is how did it ever get out of LMD!

Rusty,
When I saw it, I just had to have it :D Well, you know the feeling, right...
