WTB: New (fake?) Ordenskaya Knishka Book

I have a display project I am working on. Archival restrictions prohibits the use of the original award book. The book is going to be mounted in a framed display, so I plan on making a color copy of the original book when it's opened then carefully attaching this copy over the open fake. I guess I could simply make good quality color copies of the document in its "open" position, but I thought this might look a little more realistic.

Art,
I have done few display projects. In these projects I wanted to display both outside and inside of the document. I made collored copies of the inside at Kinkos. I was shocked. It was difficult to say, what is original and what is fake.

Eric, I have a kinkos locally available. Can someone walk in and use them or does it require someone who works there to operate? the reason I ask is that first, I don't want someone else handling the book, second, I've ran into problems with the local copy places duplicating official looking documents. I once tried to have a big HSU award document and three separate copy places wouldn't do it because they said it was "illegal".

Art,
This was the main reason, why I went to Kinkos.
You make a copy there for less than $1.00 by your self. without giving the original to anybody.
I had the same problem with "illigal" copying at another place.
They told me (I am not jocking) that in order to make a copy of my own Diploma from Soviet Union, I need to get a permission from Russian Government
Also, I wanted to make a business card for my wife, using her picture from the Cruise in Europe we took 3 years ago. They told me that I need to get a permission to use this picture from the cruise photographer.
At Kinkos I was able to make high quality copies of award books and letters for my displays without getting permission from Presidents Putin, Bush, and others.
Eric

Thanks Eric, others had only looked at me weird when I told them of problems I encountered while trying to photocopy a 60+ year document..

I'm surprised the workers at Kinkos have a clue about anything other than what time next break is. They're not know for being brainiacs.

But yeah, walk in, find the biggest and baddest *color* copier, do a few test runs and then make *the* copy. Walk to the desk and say 'hey, I made 5 color copies'.

You might want to invest in some higher quality paper if the job warrants. Bring it with (or buy it there) and use it instead of what's loaded in the printer by default.

And show us the end result if you don't mind. I like to see others projects if only to get ideas for my own displays.

Eric--could you post pics of a few of your displays that use photocopies (or direct us to the place on the forum where we can see)? I was thinking of taking out the order books from my displays to keep them out of the light, and was wondering what it looks like.

Guys,

I merged this with the "How to display Soviet awards" thread..seemed more appropriate. I would like to see a few of those photos too Eric.

Copies on display

Art, Tim
My collection is on the display behind the glass. I did my best to take a good picture. I hope it came up not very bad. At least you would get an idea.
