I have been following this forum with great interest.

Going back and checking through previous posts:

BCXB medals come in 26 & 32 mm diameters.

BDHX medals are 23 mm in diameter.

What about the one shown in the attached picture. It is shown against a silver 23 mm version (23.14 mm). It is 29.17 mm in diameter.

The designs seem to be identical, both the obverse and reverse, just in two different sizes. Both are silver (or contain silver), I tested them in the chem lab at work.

Sorry about the quality of the photo, my camera has been acting up. Will try and get better images at work tomorrow.

Any thoughts.

These medals (the silver version) came in 2 diameters, and this fact is mentioned in this thread several times.

I agree that the silver medals can be in two sizes but I cannot find a previous post that mentions 29 mm as one of those sizes. Do you have a specific post(s) in mind. I thought I had checked through the thread pretty carefully.

There are definitely two sizes, 23mm and 29mm. I believe that the large VDNKh medals were used only during the first few years of the exhibition, but I do not have any evidence to back that up.

Can you please provide exact details about your medal (weight, size, thickness, link, etc). I picked up an apparently similar one today, which I suspect is made of 10K gold.

Here it is. It looks better "in person" though.

here are my numbers for the 10k gold VDNKh badge compared with its plated cousin:

10k gold version:
dia. 23.18 mm, thickness: 2.0 mm, weight: 8.4 gram, calculated density: 10 g/cm3

plated version:
dia. 23.08 mm, thickness: 2.2 mm, weight: 7.4 gram, calculated density: 7.4 g/cm3

(The weight is for the badge only. The calculated density, based on measured dimensions and weight, is low for both 10k gold and plated brass because the thickness is measured on the rim while the inner sections of the badge are thinner. The weight ratio is correct.)

It is the official order number to the printer.

First two document you showed are for participation. The document for 1956 also exists and is of the same type as the 1955 document.
