Born in the Ukraine in 1961. Joined the army in November 1979. Just in time. AA sniper (?) of the 66th Detached Motorized Brigade.

On May 11 [1980], during a combat operation the group, to which Private POPOVSKY belonged, came under the mutineers' firing. Private POPOVSKY detected the enemy's position and eliminated three mutineers with his personal weapon, and then took part in evacuating the wounded under enemy fire.

CONCLUSION: For courage and stedafastness, the prospective awardee deserves the Medal of Combat Service.
