How they are put together
ok, if you look at the photo of my damaged ORS, you will notice in the dammaged are two different colors of silver.
My question is, why the different colors of silver? Is that a design flaw or part of the underlying design? Has anyone seen one of these things without any of the enamel on both lower arms and can you post a photo of one like this? Not the one that people saw on eBay since that was horrible to look at (like a train wreck). BTW, anyone that takes all the enamel off and then tries to sell it should be drawn and quartered. |

Question about enamel repair
Jeff,
Is this the different tones of silver? If it is, here's what most likely happened. The darker tone is where the first piece of enamel came off. The darkness is the Patina or changes on the surface due to exposure to air. The small shiny section was a later piece of enamel to fall off. Therefore, less exposure to the elements. Missing enamel
one problem with that theory is that when I run my fingernail over the line between the two I can feel a small rise as if the brighter piece is covering the darker silver.
I have included close shots of the affected area. It looks to my untrained eye as if there was a small coating of a shiny substance to brighten the enamel from under. Thoughts? |

Interesting find on eB?y for Riley1965
Hey, here is something interesting that I found this morning.
It is a photo of an officer. Now that in itself is not interesting. But look at the second photo and the lower ORS. It is missing the enamel on the 10'oclock arm. Interesting that he didn't feel the need to have it repaired before the photo was taken. |

Question about enamel repair
Eric,
You have to be right!! If I had earned a suspension OPW I'd wear it too!!! Especially since I don't have any suspensions in my collection. They are on the list to buy. It just takes time and money Best, Doc |
