Or, for the uber-cheap that insist on off-site protection, simply create a listing in notepad of all your awards/numbers send it to your hotmail account. It'll stay there as long as the account remains active.

Software
I wonder what software do you guys use for cataloging awards?
I was looking for something I can install on Mac and came up with...nothing So, still using regular Excel spreadsheet, which I find less and less friendly with increasing size of my collection. I'd appreciate any ideas/comments. Igor |

Re: Software
I used to use excel but I have stopped cataloging my collection at all now. Perhaps one day when I have nothing to do I will start to do it again.

Re: Software
It used to be a Typewriter then it was "notepad" and now it is "wordpad". Ah modern technology!

Re: Software
Have a look to BENTO. Its nothing special but easy and more search/filter capability than excel.

Re: Software
Excel works pretty well for me. I'm glad I started cataloguing things right when I started collecting; it would be a real pain to start cataloguing everything now. And it's fun to see how cheap award X was back in 2005...

Re: Software
Thats part of the reason I stopped cataloging! When I think back at how much I've spent it makes me feel a bit queasy. Its nothing compared to what some have spent here but for little old me, it seems a lot.

Re: Software
I have a "working document" utilizing the "notepad" software. This document is updated almost on a daily basis. I utilize a Carbonite back-up service for all the scans and documents in my collection, and just for luck, have all stored on my "Google Drive". This allows access from my GalaxyS4.

Re: Software
We must know what we're doing Bill.... If it works it works.....
The only reason why I quit notepad is it doesn't support other alphabets.... I still have typewriters.....

Re: Software
I use a Google Docs spreadsheet--basically Excel online. I can access the file on any computer, and share it with the wife too.
I also use Dropbox for all the research--I have a folder with the award and its number and inside are photos of the award, and scans of any docs. George |
