Dulenko, Ivan Timofeevich, Junior Sergent, Rifleman, 217th Maintenance Company
I want to share with you a really nice medal grouping that came in just yesterday.
It comes complete with the Budapest Liberation Medal and Vienna Capture Medal, with documents. I love the hand writing on these certificates. Can you all tell me who the man is and what the other hand written information reveals? Last edited by CtahhR; 09-23-2012 at 01:19 PM. |

The recipient is Junior Sergent Ivan Timofeevich Dulenko. No records for him in Podvig. Certificates signed post-war by a Captain from a regional military commissariat (Овипенковский???). Can we see the Budapest document please? |

Re: Really nice and tight medal grouping
The cpt.'s name was Tyutin. MAy be short from something, as the signature seems to end with "y"
Osvipenkovskiy is the geografical name but I have no idea where that is. |

Re: Really nice and tight medal grouping
Thanks! The handwritten information on both certificates is exactly the same(dates and etc). This is why I stacked them like that for the photos.
If you like, I can still take the photo and post it. :D What is a geographical name? Is the name from a certain region? Last edited by PaulR; 09-23-2012 at 01:28 PM. |

Here's the region: Осипенковский сельский совет (Бердянский район) — Википедия Is it really? The handwriting struck me as slightly different. Also, the rank is abbreviated in one, and the name is written in a different grammatical case on each document. So yes, a picture please! :D Last edited by CtahhR; 09-23-2012 at 01:36 PM. |

New pics of the individual documents. These were made possible with the help of my wife's dog, Birdie, who destroyed the bed just for the occasion. Last edited by CtahhR; 09-23-2012 at 01:49 PM. |

Thanks for the pictures. That explains it: the documents were issued by the same commissariat and signed by the same officer, but filled out and presented at different times. The Budapest medal doc was from March 21, while the Vienna medal doc was from July 28. So it seems a different clerk wrote each. |

Re: Junior Sergent Ivan Timofeevich Dulenko
In your case these guys just weren't awarded any serial numbered orders or medals, unfortunately. The Podvig Naroda database seems to be almost complete; my success rate (for looking up awards that I know someone received) is close to 100%.

Another thing to note is that even after the database is complete, there will still be lingering clerical errors (and how can you blame them when millions of documents are being processed?). Just last week I found two citations that hadn't come up in a standard search. For one, the name of the recipient was misspelled, and the other was processed as a prikaz rather than a citation. |
