Marc
I have this medal, but from what i've read here, does not bode in his favor.
Can someone tell me what do you think?

Re: Fake chinese medals?

Even faker than 99%.

I knew a collector who was very proud that he was buying up "super rare" Chinese Medals like that for $1 each by the gross. He was not so proud when I told him every single one was absolute junk.

These items are usually all copper in construction often with red (sometimes additional colours) paint and the whole thing is very flat and 2D with a very poor red ribbon. Far from the reality of Chinese awards.

These are available by the thousand and completely worthless in any sort of collecting or historical way and worth a few cents in metal content.

No, I have taken it to a value of a couple of dollars, a long time ago from a street vendor.

I have received the message.:thumbsup
Because they are manufactured, if there is no gain? They have the price of a souvenir.

If a street vendor in China, the best you can hope for is a good fake of a real medal. Most are simply outright fantasy garbage (actually, 狗屁). In Beijing, at least, there are some very good, very reliable, and very pricey dealers, but they aren't in the streets or in tourist areas.

Re: Fake chinese medals?

Since I am feeling rather generous today I would give these Chinese copper "bits" a value of between 8 and 10 Cents (US) each. Anyone paying anything more for them is under the delusion that they are getting something they are not.

Re: Fake chinese medals?

It is nice to see that the link answers all the questions that have arisen here?

Another example of the "junk".

Almost all of them have an explanation of what it is supposed to be on the reverse.
