Order "40th Anniversary Of The Party Of Labour Of Albania".

Order “40th Anniversary of the Labor Party of Albania” / Urdhëri “40 Vjëtori i Partia Punës e Shqipërisë”, type 1

It calls itself an "order", so I'll take Albania's word on that.

With the cute little (21-mm) lapel pin.

Re: Order “40th Anniversary of the Labor Party of Albania”

I've always thought of this as one of the strangest Albanian awards. It really asks more questions than it answers. The quality though can only be described as "Albanian". The miniature being made so the award can be worn without the "coin" blowing around in a light breeze.

Re: Order “40th Anniversary of the Labor Party of Albania”

For something from 1981, it isn't so bad. Strangely, it seems to have been worn as the only decoration by attendees at Hoxha's funeral in 1985, so it must have ranked rather high. (Schena, p. 162.)

Re: Order "40th Anniversary Of The Labour Party Of Albania".

It's been many years since I've physically handled this so I was surprised how heavy it felt in comparison to my recollection. After getting familiar with the extra light Asian awards this now feels a little weighty.

Rather the odd one out in the world of Albanian Orders.

Re: Order "40th Anniversary Of The Labour Party Of Albania".

Awarded to Vasilika Nikolla Nauni on 6th June 1983. These were awarded by the Central Committee of the Party Of Labour Of Albania and not the Supreme Soviet.

So far all of these I have found have the exact same citation;

"A militant for more than three decades in the ranks of our glorious party, inspired and educated by the politics and revolutionary ideology of the party, knowledge, wisdom, bravery and principles, has implemented and defended faithfully and adamantly the programme, the Marxist-Leninist Line and the aims of the Party Of Labour Of Albania."

Re: Order "40th Anniversary Of The Party Of Labour Of Albania".

They live together in this Case after being awarded to Sotir Lipe Mino on 17th October 1984.

On 21st April 2014 the Albania newspaper "Telegraf" did a portrait on Sotir Mino - who was alive at that time and I've not seen an obituary yet!

"The history of a Zagoriti of 83 years Sotir Mino,
In the atmosphere of friendship between Zagoritis, attention is drawn to their elder, he is Mr. Sotir Mino. Uncle Sotir as to see more comes near, smiles and invites me into friendly conversation, which I thought I would share with the honoured readers of this newspaper, a sign of respect before all the grey hair of 83 years of living, between all the joys and difficulties of it. He reveals that he was born in the village of Zhej in Zagori on 17th June 1931 amongst the generation of belovéd dignified women workers and men of wisdom, the pen and the gun, the faith of the assembly. His father Lipe Aleks Mino from the village of Zhej, after a few years of emigration to Istanbul in Turkey returned back home to build a better life with his girl, Topova, Athina Koçi. They brought to life 5 children; Aspasi, Melpo, Fori, Aleks and Sotir, who inherited from their ancestors culture, patriotism and the traditions of their Zagori Region. When he was only 12 years old, he contributed to the war of national liberation as a courier in the territorial battalion of the Zagori Region. After the liberation of the country, along with his brothers and sisters worked in every sector of life with passion and culture, where were distinguished for their correctness and positive example and left the good name of their clan. Sotir took the path of knowledge and served where there was a need in the homeland. Initially to the end of agricultural education 1947-1949 in Lushnje. He worked as a teacher in the villages of Picar and Humelicë in Gjirokastra district until the end of 1951. With the completion of the School he joined Officers in 1953, with a speciality in heavy weapons until he retired (with rank of Major), he served in the ranks in military barracks in the cities: Elbasan, Vlorë, Përmet and Tirana. During this period he was noted for accuracy in fulfilling the tasks. For this reason the Decree #4026, dated 1st July 1965 the supreme presidium of the People's Republic Of Albania awarded him with the Medal of "Military Service". Sotir started his family with his girl, Lunxhjote in the village of Humelicë, Varvara Rrapi, which stood for a correct marriage and a good education for their 5 children; Kristaq, Donika, Natasha, Rajmond and Ariani. She worked with passion in her profession and family life where he was distinguished in earning respect in the social environment. She was a noble woman and organised in work, life and family, Uncle Sotir respectfully added. With these impressions she departed this life in 2006, leaving behind good memories and an irreplaceable gap for her children and her husband Sotir Mino. But the death in 2011, aged 46 years of his son Arjan, (who lived with him) added more grief to him, at this advanced age. Therefore being surrounded by his four children and seven grandchildren (Jon, Tensi, Bora, Arlind, Sara, Mateo and Jurgen) he feels closer love their constant care to soothe the pain and the old soul of the difficulties of everyday life. But apart from biological family, to his greater family he remains Zagorite. Continuous meetings of Zagoritis give more meaning to his life. He is a model of generosity and kindness, simple and loving. He says thoughts bluntly without hesitation, his nostalgic memories associated with the past and Zagori, aided by a precise memory for people and events occurring in different times and places. His merciful human gene derives precisely from his family and loved province, known for its patriotic traditions and precious culture. "Happiness is this friendly atmosphere between my Zagorite brothers" says Uncle Sotir. "Here I find continuous spiritual medicine for this troubled life", he continues "For above all, I heartily wish, this noble and humble Zagorite through this writing to all his peers, health, prosperity and long life. Honours and respects to their admired contribution to work and family life".
