Hero Of The Revolution.

Greetings,

Does any members have a photo of the Afghan Hero of the Revolution, Hero of Labour and the Medal for Heroic Mother?

I have yet seen even a photo of these items. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Anyone ???

These are incredibly elusive. Some say that with the exception of the Hero, no badges ever existed, just titles. Who knows.

Met a fellow when I was there who was a "hero" but he was a difficult case (on many levels) and did not respond to my plea to see and photograph his medals. (Many had buried their medals, along with their vodka, during the Taliban years.)

There is the image from Г. Г. Тисов & В. Н. Ширшов, Государственные Награды Афганисана (Москва: 1998).

And I have a second image (source obscure) that claims to be the Hero, but it is too close to the Star 1st class on a goofy mounting for me to be 100% comfortable.

Would love to know more!

Re: Anyone ???

I have seen this described as the Mother Heroine, but I don't believe it.

For every bit of reliable information on Afghan awards there seem to be 300 bits of poisoned information.

Re: Anyone ???

Ahhh a view of the illusive medal. I can now go to bed in peace.

Thank you very much. Are you currently 'here'?

Re: Anyone ???

Wherever I am, I am always "here".

Was last in Afghanistan in May 2002 (with the UN and Afghan Provisional Government, NOT any military). Maintain contact with the (Afghan) friends I made then.
