Fake Badge "Honoured Railworker".

How about this one ? Seems to be a modern coined fake in great quality... !?

The reverse looks far too new, I think...

In my humble opinion, this is not a fake.
But I would like to see a close up of the mark at the bottom of the badge.

Re: Fake Badge "Honoured Railworker".

From what I can see (or not see) I would lean toward it being fake.

No screwplate?

From what can be seen I don't like it.

Re: Fake Badge "Honoured Railworker".

Strange reverse indeed. The ribbon should be mirrored on the reverse but I can't see trace of it. The avers is extremely adherent to the original, I would hardly imagine a faker so good to reproduce it and unable to do the same with the reverse. I tend to think it is just too heavily polished.

Alleged Honored Railworker in silver (?), serial #40805, which I suspect is a cast copy.

Soliciting the thoughts, perspectives, and opinions of collector colleagues. . .

Re: Fake Badge "Honoured Railworker".

Agreed. The badge itself does not look die struck while the nut also looks cast and too thin to be original. The nut's "repair" also looks too new to be contemporary.

Re: Fake Badge "Honoured Railworker".

Although these Ministerial awards weren't always up to the standards of the state mint the locomotive on this fake is more a blur than anything else. I also don't have a clue what is going on in the inside of that screwplate.

Unfortunately one for the bad pile (we all have one!).
