Medal "For Combat Merits".

Title says it all. Reverse reads "Pridnistrovian (or Transnistrian) Moldovan Republic" with a wreath below.

This Transnistrian medal strangely imitates the Afghan Combat Service Medal, which took its inspiration from the Soviet medal of the same name.

Nice, Paul. I imagine most of these came as a result of the '91-'92 war. Do you know of any other conflicts in which Pridnestrovie troops have participated?

Greg, yes, and yes.

Transnistrian newspapers reported veterans fought in the AUG 08 Russian-Georgian war, then they kind of went silent about the issue.

This Medal was established by Presidential Decree no. 103 of the 10th March 1999. Made of brass , 32mm in diameter.
Awarded to citizens who served in units of the Ministry of Defence, Justice and the forces of the border guards and the Ministry of Interior for courage demonstrated in battle and the defence of the state borders
This includes awarding to veterans of the civil war in 1992.
