Dagmar? The Royals and the Tsars were in close relation with each other. Someone from that country, got married with someone from that country and so on. In the end, almost everyone were related.

I think he could be a little bit better shape, but he's alive!

BTW, he received the Resolution for Victory Order, same as the SSSR's Order of Victory.

Gold Star Order / Huân chương sao vàng, type 2 (2007)

According to the 2003 Law on Emulation and Commendation (No. 15/2003/QH11), Chapter 3, Article 34: http://moj.gov.vn/vbpq/en/Lists/Vn%2...px?ItemID=8263

Article 34.-

1. The "Gold Star Order" is the noblest order of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

2. The "Gold Star Order" shall be conferred or posthumously conferred on individuals who satisfy one of the following criteria:

a/ Having rendered great and exceptionally outstanding meritorious services in the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation;

b/ Having rendered great and exceptionally outstanding meritorious services to the country in one of the political, economic, social, literature, art, scientific, technological, defense, security, diplomatic or other domains.

3. The "Gold Star Order" shall be conferred on collectives which satisfy the following criteria:

a/ Having recorded outstanding achievements for 10 or more consecutive years before the time of nomination; having maintained internal unity, with clean and strong Party and mass organizations;

b/ Having a process of building and development of 50 years or more; if having been conferred the "Ho Chi Minh Order," having a process of building and development of 45 years or more.

4. Collectives which have recorded exceptionally outstanding achievements and a process of building and development of 20 years, counting from the time of being conferred the first "Gold Star Order," shall be considered for conferment of the second "Gold Star Order."

Still not gotten any "hard" facts on how many that's been awarded?

Here is my Gold Star, sorry for the unfocused parts etc, it was the best I could get.

Also FYI, the back of the ribbon says Engineering Company 17 in Vietnamese, shortened.
They most likely produce the majority of the Vietnamese awards from A-B, gold plating and all.

Hi All,

I am adding SRV pages to my website, and I had some questions from the SRV collectors out there :

1. I have come across several reproductions of this order. Does anyone have any other different copy types, have the reported early copy with plain back (without branches), have any other "numbered" reverses or duplicates of the numbers I have seen (30, 31, 33), know who made any of these, or remember when they may have first seen any of these ? (a previous report in 2000 didn't seem to indicate copies yet, but by 2003 there were 2 known copies made by Vietnamese dealers).

2. Does anyone know what the gold-star like badge is in the attached picture ? It was found in Vietnam perhaps in last 1990s.

3. Has anyone ever seen actual or a picture of the design given in the 1959 US Army publication (see attached pic) ?

4. Does anyone have additional references for this order ?
