The 15th Guards Motor Rifle Shavlinsky Order of Lenin Order of Red Banner Regiment (15-й гвардейский мотострелковый Шавлинский ордена Ленина Краснознаменный полк) has a history that can be traced back to January of 1918. It had since taken part in the Russian Civil War, GPW, August 1991 Coup, and the Chechnya Wars. (Read more about the regiment's history here: Забытый полк � Военное обозрение )

As part of 2nd Guards Taman Motor Rifle Division, the regiment was disbanded and absorbed into other detachments in 2009. In 2013, the Taman Motor Rifle Division was recreated, but I'm not clear if the 15th Guards Motor Rifle Regiment is part of it again.

The badge is a large size, made of stamped tin or copper. The blue cold enamel obviously didn't cure correctly and looks more green--flag of Bulgaria maybe?? :D Generally, I still prefer Soviet badges for their design, color balance etc.
