Were the uniforms worn with a belt? Do you have any picture of an officer wearing a similar uniform?

No, they did not wear the uniforms with parade belt (yellow-gold), only for very rare occasions, like the officer's inauguration. The Hungarian uniform system after 1957 tried to avoid too much ornamentation.

I'll try to find a pic for you.

Eddie:

No, this badge shows that the soldier has graduated at a civilian university.

Regards, Sandor

Thanks for clearing that up Sandor,
I saw that Badge being described as an Academy for Foriegn Studys and I wasn't sure that it was correct, thats the reason I asked for confirmation.

Best regards Eddie.

Re: Hungarian uniforms: officer parade uniform

Here is a picture of the uniform Sandor posted in wear. The first Hungarian officer in the picture is Farkas Bertalan, the only Hungarian to fly into space with the Soviet Intercosmos Program. His Soviet partner in the flight is beside him in civilian clothes and his Hungarian backup partner is behind him in the foto.

Regards,

Gordon
