Who were these awarded to?

Hi There,

Firstly thanks to Yolkin and Slava1stclass for help with the Motherhood medal document.

I have just acquired these with their associated medals and would again like help with identifying who they were awarded to.

It seems that both medals were awarded to the same person. Is the red cloth booklet for the Combat Service Medal?

If anyone can help I would be grateful.

Simon

Hello Simon,

The name of the recipient is Ryazov, Leonid Vasiliyevich; and yes, the red booklet shows the Medal for Combat Service stamped in it.

I believe that the family name on these documents would actually transliterate from the Cyrillic as Ryabov.

name on certificate for medal for distinguished labor, which nationality?

hello gentlemen, here's a scan of the first page of a booklet for a distinguished labor medal, awarded in 1977.
I need your experience because I can't find the nationality of the recipient's name; the only thing I'm almost certain he was not russian.

Thanks by advance!

I'd say Central Asia, possibly from Tadjikistan or Uzbekistan.

Just made a search on "Yandex" with "мастурахон".

I would agree, though lean toward Tajik.

Republic details.

If I remember correctly the next page to the one you scanned often has the name of the republic handwritten or stamped on it.

A Tajik (or Uzbek?) citizen could have lived in any Soviet republic. Charlet requested the identity of the recipient's nationality.

Furthering my education in this subject, and continuing with Marc's suggestion that I look to the Mondvor site for information, I submit the following for your consideration:

(I realize that this is a very common document, but I'm finding the study pretty interesting.)

"Udostoverenie k Medali" (Permit for Medals), Type 1, serial number 444,156 (about 35,000 over the range given in the Mondvor site for this type), printed Moscow, Gorznak, 1945.

For the award of the Medal for Combat Service, #2,555,368. "Ukaz" date 1946, issue date 1946.

I don't know if the serial number deviation from the number range listed on the site is of significance and should be concerning. In all other aspects, the booklet conforms exactly as those illustrated and described on the web site.

Hope I not boring anyone to death with my new found fascination. If so, I apologize.

Finally, could someone please translate the recipient's name for me?

Mike
