Badge "Exemplary Transportation Worker".
Here is an early screwback badge of the DPRK. "People's Democratic Republic Of Korea Exemplary Transportation Worker" (조선민주주의인민공화국 모범운수일꾼) this nice early piece has the number 87. Unfortunately the screwpost and screwplate went "walkabout" a long time ago. I am thinking about replacing the post and plate so I can add this to the display (Many DPRK screwbacks were altered to pinback buy awardees but I'd prefer to keep this screwback if possible). This item is part of a small group of early DPRK items brought back from "Korea" by a Leatherneck in the 1st Marine Division. There is a slight chance that all the items from this group is from one Korean People's Army soldier but that is unlikely.

Re: Badge "Exemplary Transportation Worker".
Here is a Type 2. Unnumbered although providing a place for a serial number.

Re: Badge "Exemplary Transportation Worker".
Here is a ground-dug example of the Type 1 that has been converted at some time.

Re: Badge "Exemplary Transportation Worker".
Here is an extraordinary survivor. An unfinished Type 1. This most likely dates from pre-1951 as the back story that came with the piece would suggest it was captured by U.S. Forces during their drive northwards.
It seems to have been numbered 572 at an angle just above the line for the serial number. Why someone would number an unfinished piece I don't know, unless they were trying their skill at numbering. A very unusual piece, that I was very surprised to find.
