Medical Institute Graduate Badges.
I have a few of these badges in my collection. Several of my University colleagues are Russian and they have told me the following about these badges that I have in my collection:
Showing the general evolution of the badges for Medical Institute Graduates from the 1960s to the 1990s. 1. 1960s - Gilt brass & enamels with 3-piece construction. Screwback. Made by Monetny Dvor in Moscow. 2. 1970s-80s - Aluminium & enamels with 3-piece construction. Screwback. Made by Monetny Dvor in Moscow. 3. 1980s-90s - Aluminium & enamels with 3-piece construction. Screwback. Made by Monetny Dvor. Can anybody confirm this info? Simon Last edited by CtahhR; 08-13-2012 at 02:36 PM. |

Simon,
Nice little collection you have there. As to the information I'm sure one of the badge experts can confirm that it is correct, it seems ok to me. However the #3. 1980s-90's badge is from a College or Higher Medical School rather than a Medical University. Regards Eddie.

Medical Academy Graduate Badges
#3, 4 & 5
Another one I need help with. I think that 4 & 5 are Moscow Military Medical academy Badges. Why are they shaped different? :thumbsup:thumbsup Doc Last edited by Riley1965; 08-28-2008 at 09:35 AM. |

Re: Medical Academy Graduate Badges
Doc,
I have never seen #3, that's a cool one. #4 is for Medical Institute, while #5 is for Medical University. As far as I know, both of these are civilian versions. Marc |

There are not and were not any Military medical academies in Moscow! Military medical academy is (was) situated in St.-Petersburg (Leningrad). #3 is unofficial issue for this Military medical academy. It was produced not in USSR but in Russian Federation for private order. Such emblem as at #3 badge was never used in USSR. It is restored emblem of medics of Russian Empire. And you understand that such restoration was not availible in Soviet Union :) If it will be interesting to you I can show some modern patches of Russian Federation's Military medical academy with such emblems. #4 and #5 is for civil medical education but Lapa was not correct with their definition. #4 is for middle medical education (nurces, medical assistants) and #5 is for high medical education (doctors). There were not medical academies and universities in USSR. Only institutes. Last edited by russiamilitaria; 09-07-2008 at 04:32 AM. |

Re: Medical Institute Graduate Badges.
Here is a fairly late example of the Higher Medical Graduation Badge.
