Medal "For The Capture Of Vienna".

The only reason I know it's not a fake is because I have seen the same signature on other period award documents.

Medal "For The Capture Of Vienna".

Is this the Variation 1 or 3 of the "Medal for the Capture of Vienna". I'm not sure with this fat ring configuration. It is not the seperately soldered-on ring, neither the U-shape ring and it also doesn't look like to be V3 that was issued.

Thanks for your help.

Hello Soviet,

the mondvor side lists it as the third variant.
V1: separate soldered ring
V2: U shaped ring
V3: rounded flat ring part of the medal
V4: stamped round ring part of the medal

regards
Andreas

Oh thanks Andreas. :thumbsup
I was puzzled because McDaniel book only lists 3 variations.

Vienna question.

This medal is for my collection. I have a doubt. The "U" shaped ring is very similar to the circular ring . I can´t distinguish . Is Type 2 or Type 3?
I think that its type 2
Regards.

Re: Capture of Vienna question.

I'm pretty sure it's a V2. It's too dirty for a three - doesn't have that nice gold finish too it. Plus, the ring is too crude for a three. As far as I know all V3's have nice, round rings that are part of the body.
