Lenin Medal

Would like to know what you all think of this piece.
These are the better photos that I received.
Any idea as to year as I noticed that numbers seem to change
as to what is WW2 or post. Looks like 72561.
Is $2000 a fair price.
Thanks,
J figueroa

Re: Lenin.

It's an original piece and $2000 is a fair price. #72561 is probably a June 1949 long-service award.

Re: Lenin.

Thanks for the help. Were any of these high awards given out postwar?
Perhaps due to late paperwork or other problems.

Re: Lenin.

Yes for military and civilian merit but mainly for long service or labour.

It finally came-

Came in yesterday. Weighed in at 33.7g. I haven't tested for gold but I think it's good. Enamel looks beautiful.
I shot it in artificial light and sunlight.
Let me what you all think.
These photos are sunlight.

Jose,

Please ask authenticity questions in the Fakes section.

Your piece looks good, at least as much as I can tell from those small pictures (I will never say that it is genuine based on pictures :)).

I have recently authenticated a bunch of his twins in the same serial number range.

Possibly, but could also be a labor award or something totally unexpected. It was produced by LMD in 1947.

Red enamel is obviously completely replaced.

Re: Damaged, Repair, Clean, Preserve Soviet Awards.

Another battle - worn order.

This one was issued to a fighter pilot, who was shot down in 1942.

He was wearing this order during the incident, which also explains it`s condition.

But I will leave it like this; it belongs to it`s history, I think. :thumbsup

Re: Lenin.

Here is Type 5 Variation 1 #189387. A recent purchase from the Forum's Marketplace (Not all "Baubles" after all).

The story that goes with this is that it was bought in West Berlin in 1984 from a Russian Émigré but unfortunately the reality is not yet known as research has come back "not found". This could be a Labour award or less likely a MVD or MGB long service award. All we know is it is not a military award (long service or otherwise) and was probably awarded in the 1950-1952 period.

It has a replacement suspension and ribbon but everything else is original.

Re: Lenin.

Donetsk Oblast, Krasnii Liman Region "stella" portraying the oblast's two Orders of Lenin. Ukrainian 2016 legislation regarding "decommunization" not only caused someone to blot out the "Lenin" on the two decorations, but dropped the "Krasnii" adjective with the city now being called merely "Liman."
