Buglak, Petr Grigor'evich, Driver, Department Of Geology, Kirghiz SSR

Because I do not read Ukrainian past the words that sound or look close enough to Russian to get by, I was wondering if anyone has ever seen anything like it - hand drawn-up from top to stamp. (I'm assuming it is Ukrainian based on the "URSR" on the bottom half of the document, but at the top, there is "SRSR"??)

It is in the form of other "birth certificates" that I have (some older - some more recent), but I can't figure out why an actual printed version wasn't used. Did they run out and only have a stamp and blank paper? Possibly, but I doubt it.

Any thoughts?

What about all the writing at the bottom near the seal? Anybody read Ukrainian "script" enough to make it out?

I have a few other documents from the same person, including a suspicious looking MVD ID, so nothing will surprise me about this.

I'm just curious since I have never seen anything like it. I've heard of award and even promotion documents being drawn up by hand in the field during war, but not a birth certificate.

That is exactly what this is. The handwritten citation in '51 attests that the individual in question was 12 years old. Really cool!

Bobrovitsya is in Chernigiv Oblast, NW of Kiev.

Re: Ukrainian hand-drawn birth certificate?

Who'd a thunk it? I'm glad it wasn't like much of the stuff I got from this seller. I went ahead and put it safely into one of my binders. Thanks Paul. I'm really glad you found it interesting.:thumbsup

I'll post the other documents about this man later - even the dubious MVD ID. Apparently, the 12-year-old grew up to be a geologist in the employ of the police...

Re: Ukrainian hand-drawn birth certificate?

One of the most interesting and curious things I've seen in a long time. Very nice!

Re: Ukrainian hand-drawn birth certificate?

Well, I suppose I'll keep scanning and posting documents while I reorganize them. Who knows what else is in there that I have forgotten about or written off as forgeries.;)

Thanks guys.:D

Re: Ukrainian hand-drawn birth certificate?

Here are the rest of the documents I have on Mr. Peter Grigorbevich Bulgak after he grew up and became a driver and vehicle repairman then was given the 1973 award (below #1) from the Kirghiz Republic Bureau of Geology's "chief" or "president."

#2 - A "Certificate" stating that he "was indeed a member of the Garden Virgins Society's amateur [?] geological expedition." It also entitled him "...to travel to the territory at the mouth of the Irdik River and the bank of Issyk-[?]" I'm guessing he was the driver and an amateur geologist.

#3 - His DOSAAF driver's license/certificate?

Interesting MVD passes in the next post...

Re: Ukrainian hand-drawn birth certificate?

OK - these look more interesting than the others if for nothing else than they were "passes" issued by the Kirghiz MVD. Lots of handwriting, so my translation stops there.

The first was issued in 1986 and the second in 1987.

Re: Ukrainian hand-drawn birth certificate?

These are the last two. The first is a Mandate which shows that he was elected as a "delegate to the 26th Conference of the [May Day] Organization of the Communist Party of Kirghizstan" from the "main [Communist] Party vehicle maintenance [motor pool?] of the Geology Department of the Kirghiz SSR" from 1980.

Then there's this last "gem". I don't know how real it is given the source, but since the rest of the things seem to check out, why not? It's a famous MVD "red cover" ID, and finally a picture of our driver/mechanic/geologist and MVD "secretary" of ?? Department?

Interesting life of your ordinary, everyday guy?

Here are closer shots of that dubious MVD ID. It's also not signed by him under his photo.
Oh, and I forgot to point out he is not wearing any sort of uniform (unless that is his chauffeur's uniform.
