Georgian Red Army - 1st Shooters Division
Today I'll post another badge from the Georgian Red Army. This is a soldier's badge from the 1st Shooters Division of the Georgian Red Army, 1921-1922.
No, it's not as splashy as some of my others, but that's the life of the ordinary soldier. This is brass or bronze, three pieces, low grade enamel that looks like it was applied in an assembly line process. Interestingly enough, the screw plate appears to be of a different metal, maybe even silver or silver over steel (no apparent rust, but not over brass either), which makes me wonder if the badge was originally silver-plated. I see no signs of that, but I wonder. This is another badge that I believe to be uncatalogued. As always, if you have more or different information I would be glad to hear from you. |
