Guys,
My better half, a sports fan (go Zenit!), suggests that it is most likely a sports badge: "Спортивное Добровольное Общество", possibly the predecessor of the current ЦСКА. Marc |

Marc,
You may be right but the word ordering, DSO, as in Dobrovolnoie Sportivnoie Obschestvo', is what I think would have been a more palatable combination. The entire setup has a slightly foreign flavour to it, like Bulgarian perhaps. I am also puzzled by the screwplate, the 3O does not make much sense to me. Sergei PS A Zenit fan? Great club! |

Sergei,
On the screwplate, it is written: ХЭО ДСО / "МОТОР" Marc |

Marc,
You ARE right, I didn't notice the X! That's even worse. The X (Russian H) - Hoziaistvo (or a derivative from this), Hlopkoroby, some Region whose name begins with a H (Horoshevskiy Rayon - that's a stretch!) - what else? Har'kovskoie? The second letter, is it the 3 (sounds like Z) or the 3 (sounds like Eh) - I do need to get proper Russian font :o If a Z, the remaining 3O in the X3O could possibly stand for the Zavodskoie Ob'edineniye? What was the old name for Harkovskiy Traktornyi Zavod (if there was one)? But then, is this badge a complete prank? Sergei |
