KGB Visor 1989

I just won this cap and it will arrive from PA soon. :)
This cap looks so great, I think it does anyways!
Not only is it in great condition from the looks of the picture, but its also in a very nice and large size 60!
Which just happens to be my size! :)

Anywho, shipping and all I spent 85 bucks US on it, and it is my first KGB visor cap.
Tetrov has offered me a wonderful KGB dembel uniform; however I do not think it fits with this cap, if anybody knows what type of uniform this one needs to match up to please let me know. :)

And if anybody can shed any light on any possible flaws with this cap that would be nice too. :)

Lonny.

Nice cap!

I don´t see any flaws in it. Till somebody comes up with one, you may sleep cozy and warm without worries. :)

Curiously parade officers caps seems to be easier to find than everyday enlisted ones....

Re: KGB Visor 1989

nothing weird about this cap !!

it is just that i already have 2 of these that i didn't bid on it.
but this one is in wonderfull condition.
so good it might be un worn.

the uniform that would go with this parade cap is a parade uniform.

nice find.

:thumbsup Nice cap...I can remember when you could buy one of these for 20 bucks at a show or on a Berlin street corner. Enjoy!

Re: KGB Visor 1989

:) It would be interesting to know how many uniforms were actually made for the KGB when compared to the other branches of the Soviet military. Also, the parade stuff should be a little rarer due to the circumstances of its use. I also wonder how many of the retired KGB people kept their uniforms after leaving the service. At any rate, KGB material will become even more rare over time. I have one of these parade hats dated 1970 and excites me even to this day. The cool aspect of your hat is the date of 1989. This is when it began to unravel and the Soviet Union came apart like a cheap suit. Again, enjoy your new toy!

Re: KGB Visor 1989

Well, it just came in the mail! :D
It is possibly my favorite cap in my small but growing collection! Its construction is nice and solid, the cockarde is amazing and brilliant, every thing about this hat is just aces!
And I see the seller is offering three more in the same size and type! :) Maybe I'll get another!

As I am given to understand, unlike the military side, KGB service and especially parade uniforms were tailored which makes them more rare than the military equivalents. Second, everything I've learned about the KGB says the men and women who went to work everyday for the KGB did NOT wear uniforms on any regular basis unless they were stuck in a local or regional office or were guards in Lubyanka or a gulag somewhere - which makes service uniforms even more rare. They did, however, all turn out in full regalia for parades - which makes parade uniforms logically more prevalent. It's easy to fake a KGB service uniform, but even easier to fake a parade uniform from scratch - especially if you have access to the material (e.g. Ukranian and other areas where garment factories had large warehouses full of the stuff when the bottom fell out).

Now Commissar, don't for a second think I am doubting your hat. I've seen the fake ones (even have one) and yours is nothing like them. I believe you have a good thing there.:thumbsup If they were just a bit smaller, I'd ask for your seller's name.;)
