Here is my Navy badge, model 1961:

I have two 1976 "For Long Voyage" (Submarine version) with completely different backs.

The first has what looks like a sunburst pattern going across it, but none of the usual star shaped mint marks.

The second has the star shaped mint mark on a somewhat plain background.

I acquired both of these over a decade ago (first in 2002, second in late 90's) and now am wondering which is authentic? Are they both authentic?

Any help is welcome :)

Is there a particular source book to reference this information from or is it just experience? I only ask because when writing about militaria I am often obligated to cite sources when they are available. :)
