Badge "Military School".

Maybe this is a silly question, but what is the difference between the oval academy badges and the diammond shaped ones?

Oval ones were used strictly for specialized military schools.

What is the time era for those oval ones? I have one on a generals service uniform, it feels like it does not fit there but it was mounted when I got it  and there are no traces underneath from a diamond shaped one. Could a high officer, like a general have a such one?

justice officers

Does anyone know what school(s) a justice officer could have gone to before becoming a soviet JAG?

And if so, does anyone have a pics of the badges for those schools?

The way I understood it, the oval graduation badge was first introduced in the late 1940's. Badges depicting specific branch-of-service insignis were adopted and issued up to 1958, when a generic "BY" (military school) design was adopted. In the late 1960's/early 1970's, the diamond-shaped "rhomb" graduation badge was adopted for new junior officer graduates. The higher military academies had already been using the "rhomb" shape since the 1940's.

The Moscow Military Institute had a law faculty, among its other departments. I would supposed all its graduates would receive the same badge ...

Re: Badge "Military School".

A late unissued example. These can still be found in bulk, in their cases straight off the warehouse shelf.
