Proficiency Badges
Hello all,
I was a bit distracted and made a hasty offer on these proficiency badges. After a closer look I realized that they look a bit fake....the reverse side mirror detail is awful......any comments?

Re: Fishy looking proficiency badges
I know next to nothing about Blugarian badges but I get the feeling the two may just be later issues (emissions)

Re: Fishy looking proficiency badges
They are all good with original screwplates.
There is a marked quality difference between Bulgarian and Soviet. If you don't want them I know someone who does.

Re: Proficiency Badges
Over the last few months large stockpiles of unissued screwback Badges from this factory have been making it onto the market, so lots of once rare and usually well worn items can now be found frequently and in mint condition.
The documents continue to be elusive. Fake Bulgarian items do exist but not in large numbers nor range. Most of them being produced by an Ethiopian in Sofia, with "internationalist brigades" fakes coming from Spain.

Re: Proficiency Badges
The badges have arrived and i've been able to observe them closer. Can you please tell me which factory corresponds to "Д.И.П. КОМУНА" stamped on the screwplate?

Re: Proficiency Badges
(Държавно индустриално предприятие) National Industrial Venture "Commune" in Sofia, active 1951-1998. They made vast numbers of Bulgarian award Badges but were never the sole producer.

Re: Proficiency Badges
On a recent trip to Sofia I acquired a pair of these badges (haven't had time to photograph them yet) with a blue background instead of white. I'm assuming that they were awarded to navy or air force personnel can anyone confirm?

Re: Proficiency Badges
That could be the case. However production control was so slapshot that it may not be the case. I know the navy had their own Badges which were completely separate to the army ones but you never know...
Documented Badges are the best indication.
