Out of curiosity - is the left pocket used as a pistol holster, like in the old soviet ones?

No, the Cuban tankists do not wear the pistol inside the uniform like the Soviets (example here: http://iacmc.forumotion.com/t5938-do...tanker-uniform). The Cubans wear the pistol separately in a holster on the belt.
