Late 1940s Model (pattern) - I believe 1947/48 or thereabout.

1 - 34MM

2 - 24MM

For Naval Sailor's Beskozirka; I do not have the Model "years" down yet, but I believe this has to be a close enough assumption for now based on what I have absorbed about the subject to date:

1 - 1930s/early 1940s - 20MM

2- Early 1940s - 28MM

3 - Mid/late 1940s thru 1950s - 28MM

Collected Info on Cap Stars

Hi Folks,

Working with Richie I have consolidated all of the above information into a single PDF. I intend to use it as portable information when I am at local militaria shows.

Eventually we hope to produce several more of these "Guides" using material from Richie's extensive collection.

Simon

Great work! The collecting community needs more people creating small, concise publications like that.

Great reference. Thanks for sharing this with everyone and taking the time to do it. I have the PDF printed out and in my reference books already. Clete

RichieC,

I was wondering if you could also post pictures of the reverses. These badges are heavily faked, so it would really help.

Helmet star?

Found this nice looking badge on the e-channel.
It's very nice looking and, according to the seller "83 mm between the ends of the rays." Seller also states it's for the Adrian helmet.
I've no idea if it's real or not. A forum-search for "helmet star" returned nothing like this.
If it's real it's very nice. If it's not real than it's something to be wary of.
The two obverses may be of different stars.

Eric,

It is a modern-day production. The originals are awfully rare and expensive.

Eric,

I am not an expert in hat badges, but if I were to tell from the way it was manufactured, it's a clear cut fake.
