The Ukraine Order of the Nation is awarded for great labour achievements.
The Ukraine became a Sovereign Nation in August 1991, and part of the shaping of the Ukrainian Statehood has been the establishment of a unified system of Orders and Medals. The President of Ukraine has been authorized to establish and confer awards since 13 February 1992. The new constitution of Ukraine approved 28 January 1996, consolidated the President's authority to confer national award of Ukraine, institute Presidential Decorations and to award them. The Awards are conferred by decrees of the Head of State.
From 13th February 1992 till 23rd August, 1998 when the Hero of Ukraine award was instituted is a long time were there was no official Gold star to be awarded.
