Frieza,
It's a great commemorative pin, and there are many people, who collect them. Unfortunately there were designed so good, some dealers honestly believe they are some kind of awards. Alexei |

Dolf:
It's just a jubilee pin of some sort for the battle of Stalingrad. Not worth much... Maybe $1-$2 at best. --Dave |

Hi Dolf,
This is one of 12 pcs pins of Sities-Heroes of SU, they are all same as that one, the only difference is the name of the city, in this case "Volgograd". I think, that $1 for it too much, may be $0.25-$0.5 is fare price. Rudy |

Tourist Pieces.
FYI,
Here is another one, I have seen several times for sale on the web (it is currenly offered on the french eBay for 1€...). No mark on Gorbachev's head, and supposedly dated 1988-1991. May be a tourist item... but for the tourists of the end of the 80s ? Ch. |

I managed to purchase, yesterday, a circular 'Aurora' badge. I have only my Avers #5 catalogue with me, I've been unable to find the badge in the catalogue. I'll post a scan when I get back to the UK on Wednesday this week.
The guy I bought it from said he also had an 'Aurora' medal, which thinking about it now, he probably meant the Order of the October Revolution, one of my favourite orders, as it so happens. Can anyone tell me anything about this history of the 'Aurora' badge? Thanks. Kind Regards, Shane Cook. Last edited by CtahhR; 05-13-2013 at 06:17 PM. |

Aurora in St. Petersburg
THE CRUISER AURORA in St. Petersburg
The blank shot that signaled the launching of the Revolution in 1917 was fired from the main gun of this 19th century battleship, moored in the Neva River. A shot one of the forward ship's guns gave the signal for the storming of the Winter palace, which was being used as a residence by the democratic, but largely ineffective Provisional Government. The next day, Lenin announced the beginning of the communist era from its radio-cabin. regards Andreas |
