DP28 LMG

Another one from my collection.

Dated 1943.

Our club has a nice early 1932 dated example. The care taken to produce this one compare to mine is obvious when placed side by side. Mine has rough milling marks to the receiver not found on the peacetime made gun. Wartime needs meant niceties like finish were a thing of the past!

Once again I have shot these live (along with improved M44 version) with the Army. The slowish rate of fire makes them easy to control compared with the German MG34 or MG42. The troops nick named it "The record player" as the 47 round 7.62mm mag revolved as the gun was fired. This was a useful feature as the second man could see from where the D Ring was positioned on top of the mag when the mag would be empty.

Cheers, Ade.

Re: DP28 LMG

I also have the gunners cleaning kit, gun cover, cloth 3 drum carrying bag, metal 3 drum tin and special padded sling. I like to collect all the bits related to the weapon.
