Prisoner Of War Travel Permit.
I found this today on eBay. It's a permit or pass for a released German POW to travel home to Berlin.
I find this very interesting as I've not seen anything like this before. Note it's in Russian language on one side and German on the other. Ehemaliger kriegsgefangener entlassen worden und befindet sich auf der heimreise nach Berlin = Former prisoners of war dismiss(al) (release) and be on home-travel to Berlin Looks like a very lucky Otto Rehnus was heading home in September of 1948. Hopefully he had some family and a home left to go to. Odds weren't too good I'd venture to guess. Anyone recognize the Soviet stamp?

Re: POW travel permit
He was probably a civilian who got caught up in the mess that was post-War Berlin/Germany.
The stamp doesn't strike me as anything more unusual than a military post stamp, but I'm not a stamp expert. Cool document.:thumbsup Phillip

Re: POW travel permit
Sadly "they" want an arm and a leg for it or else I'd grab it up.
At 31 years-old in 1945 in Berlin and a male I'd guess odds are he was in the military in some way, at least in Soviet eyes.
