Order Booklets
I have a small collection of Order Booklets, without the awards.
I was wondering if anyone else collects Order Booklets, without the awards. I usually acquire them at very low prices and was wondering what they usually sell for. Happy hunting. Thanks,Al |

Al,
Without the awards they are usually $1-2, unless there is a photo or a rare award listed. I remember selling an order booklet on eBay with an early Order of Suvorov listed and a nice photo of the recipient for $20+. Alexei |

Order Booklets
I have seen a couple of award books were the recipients photo has had the bottom right corner removed to show the stamp underneath. Is this common or a sign of altering the booklet to increase its value?

Very interesting question. I have never seen one myself.
To me it indicates that the photo was added after the doc was first issued. I have seen, and indeed have, many docs without photos. I was common, especially in wartime, to issue them without photos. I see no reason that people could not add legitimate photos later. However, I would have a few questions though about any one where the picture was added later. Uniform details? What era is the uniform? What rank? Does this match stuff known about the recipient? Lucky for us some forgers are stupid. I once saw a fake SMERSH ID for sale, it was dated 1944 but the guy in the photo was wearing a M1955 uniform! Are there awards visible in the photo? If so do they match the awards in the doc??
