Short, concrete description of the personal combat feat or merits:

During the night from December 4 to December 5, 1944, Private Ignaty Samoilovich Korneichuk was among the first to cross the Danube River near the village of Mariaháza (15 kilometers south of the city of Budapest) in a motorboat under heavy enemy machine gun and artillery fire.

On its way back the motorboat was damaged by shrapnel. The boat quickly flooded with water, but thanks to Private Korneichuk’s resourcefulness and decisive measures the motorboat was saved.

On the shore Private Korneichuk quickly repaired the motorboat and before dawn of December 5 he carried out five trips under enemy machine gun and artillery fire, ferrying 50 soldiers and officers across the river.

In the course of December 5 and 6, 1944, under artillery fire and machine gun fire from enemy aircraft, Private Korneichuk ferried 60 soldiers and officers of the 99th Rifle Division across the river and on his way back put across 20 wounded soldiers and officers. He also ferried 60 cases of ammunition across the river for the units that had disembarked.

Private Korneichuk is a brave soldier who deserves the Order of the Red Banner.
