Alexei,
It's not you. I asked the seller for better pictures. Here's what I received:

Guys,
Thanks. I am confused about this piece. I still can't see anything wrong with the loop, well maybe it is a little thick, but the cut itself is more suspicious to me with those rounded corners. Mint mark is weird indeed, but what about the serial number? Looks original to me  If it is original, than so is the mint mark, yet I don't think I have ever seen this type of MM in this serial number range  Alexei |

Alexei,
I agree with you completely! ...but for the asking price, I decided to pass. Rusty.

I wouldn't call it " a little thick". :D It's almost twice as thick. As for the number, I know at least a few people who can make such number and the alteration won't be noticed without thorough examination

Eugene,
I know some of those guys too, and seen their work. They are very meticulous. This piece costs $250-300, and I have sold one recently for $200 to a good customer. So the question is was it worth such an investment? Alexei |

The answer is yes. This item is for sell in Finland. I'm sure it came from Russia or one of Baltic republics. Those guys fake much cheaper awards.

Red Banner #6 - ultra rare award
Get ready for the thrill:
A well-known Russian dealer from NJ just listed Red Banner #6 for sale for just $12,900!!! This is extremely rare award (serial number 20' mintage around 50 speciments), very few are known to exist in collectors hands. This baby is even rarer than most of 1st class Polkovodzi awards!! Here's seller description: "Order of the Red Banner 6th award, #20, circa late 1940s - 1950s. Silver gilt, enamels. Near mint condition. Comes with McDaniel authentication certificate with extraordinary, 9.5 out of 10 condition rating. Comes with brass suspension and recent ribbon. A true rarity among Soviet decorations: only approximately 50 of "Number Six" Red Banners are known to have been produced by the Mint. $12,900.00 " Best regards, Wiliam |

Red Banner
Just sharing a couple of pics of a nice Red Banner.
Some damage on enamel, but otherwise in good condition. And the remaining enamel is as far as I can tell 100% original, no restores. Dolf Last edited by Dolf; 04-14-2005 at 07:56 PM. |
