Must say that this book really paints a clear picture of the suffering of both the Germans and Russians during this pivotal battle. I would recommend it as required reading to understand why the medal for the "Defense of Stalingrad" along with the legit paperwork is a must have for any serious collector. Beevor clearly did his homework when researching the material for this book. At 433 pages (excluding statistical info) it will keep you going for several days. Now on to "Stalin - The first in-depth biography based on explosive new documents from Russia's secret archive" by Edvard Radzinksy, the author of "The Last Tsar". __________________ "Who will come to us with a sword - will be killed by a sword.
