Osoka, Mihail Kuz'mich, Midshipman, Chemical Troops, Baltic Fleet/North Fleet
A set of documents to professionnal navy NCO Mikhail Kuz'mich Osoka
First we have his 1949 service ID - or rather: reamins of it, as there's a cover only. However, his photograph in officer uniform, issue date and information about marriage. Than there's his 1968 Victory 20th medal doc, issued by sidned by Amur-Lower Dnepr RVK, col. Ryzhik Last edited by Al-muell; 07-18-2015 at 07:01 AM. |

Issued in 1956 by Amur-Lower Dnepr RVK - at that timethe Komissar was guards colonel Trikoz (3 goats?)
Shows photograph that proves that civilian life and "hitler-style" moustache doesn't serve everyone well. Our michman was born in 1908, speciality given as 119a - specialists for food supply, function as senior "bataler" (not sure what that means) and rank as Michman (at that time still professional NCO, not WO). Had no civilian speciality (before being sent to reserve spent all his professional life in the Navy...), is a party member since October 1944, party ID nr 01859853, not a VLKSM member (not surprising for someone 48 years old), Ukrainian, has Russian ([&?] Ukrainian) as native language, social class - clerical worker. His education is described as 6 classes of 44 NSSh (some sort of secondary school? he was an active Navy serviceman at that time) in Arkhangelsk in 1938. Born in the village of Aleksandrovka in Magdalinovskiy (?) Region in Dnepropetrovsk Oblast. Called by Hitreikovskiy RVK on 29October 1930 (at the age of 22) sent to Regiment of the Kra??? fortified region (elsewhere referred to as "KUR"). He was a rifleman there until 1932, than in 150 Separate ??? Rifle Company - squad leader until November 1937 (this is probably wrong, as will be shown later). Than from 1937 until November 1949 in Chemical Squad of the Arkhangelsk Military Port - senior caretaker Than until October 1951 - In Belomorskiy Region in the SNiS White Sea Flotilla - senior caretaker-chemist. From 1951 till September 1954 - Chemical Warehouse chief in North Sea higher Navy School Than from 1954 until April 1956 - Senior "bataler" in unit 77570 Sent to reserves on 24. April 1956. Info on war participation: from June 1941 to May 1945 on the GPW in: Chemical Squad of the Arkhangelsk Military Port - senior caretaker. Had no wounds... Awarded: Orders "Red Star" and "Red Banner" (most likely long service) Medals: "For military Merits" (long service), Victory over Germany, 30 years of the Soviet Army and Navy, For defence of the Soviet Polar Region. Order Of Patriotic War [not stated, but he got 2nd class] awarded on 27 May 1986. By the Medical commission declared unfit for peacetime service, in wartime service fit for non-combat service on 17th December 1957 |

Старший баталер is Senior Storeman. Not quite the Quartermaster but not just a run of the mill warehouse monkey.

Surprisingly, there's his long service CSM citation on podvignaroda.ru.
For 14 years and 1 month of service. Funstion given as Starshina of Separate ge- gasation (gas decontamination?) squad of the North Fleet, stil a VKP(b) candidate since 1943. "Osoka Mikhail Kuz'mich is devoted to the party of Lenin-Stalin and Soviet State. Demanding for himself and subordinates, he knows his speciality good. Has 10-year practice. ? and ? Subordinates, politicaly developed. Deserves to be awarded "For Combat Merits" state medal for service in the Navy. Chief of the [Separate De-gasation Squad ofthe NF] Sr. Lt. Zabolotsiy" His service record differs from that in the booklet... October 1930 - October 1932 - private, Rifle Regiment of the KUR, city of ?[looks like Krondshtadt - Kronstad?], Red banner Baltic Fleet October 1932 - December 1935 - squad leader, 42 Guard (function, not title) Battalion , same city. Red banner Baltic Fleet December 1935 - November 1937 - ? of the Company Commander, 150th Local Rifle Company, city of Arkhangelsk, North Fleet November 1937 - June 1941 - Senior caretaker, Arkhangelsk Military Port, Chemical Squad, North Fleet June 1941 - November 1942 - ??? of the Chief of the storage division, Chemical squad, North Fleet November 1942 - July 1944 - Senior chemist - Chemical squad, North Fleet July 1944 - ?? 1944 - Starshina-chemist - Separate De-gasation squad of the North Fleet |

Naval (covering all naval forces Air, Naval Infantry etc) long service award citations are available (hopefully army will be too son enough). I think I've seen Naval Long Service citations up to from 1944 (when they started) to 1948/9.
