Here is an exceptional group to Stojan Dragomirov Mateev, younger brother of the late pre-eminent Bulgarian Theoretical and Mathematical Physician of the Joint Institute Of Nuclear Research and former President Of The Union Of Physicists, Matej (Obituary Here and Here).

Although the amount of information of Stojan is minimal in comparison to his older brother, the awards in his group of one Order, two Medals and three Badges have as yet not been covered in any way. Emphasising just how little information is available on Bulgarian awards.

Some exceptionally rare awards in this group to a manager at the State Economic Association "Electron" Factory "Signal". The State Economic Association "Electron" was responsible for providing the military with electronic hardware with the Factory "Signal" in Sofia specialising in Radio-Radar equipment.

Firstly we have his Dimitrov Communist Youth Union membership from 12th April 1970. Showing membership from the ages of 14 to 27.

Firstly we have the Gold Medal "Capital Champion During Years Of The Seventh Five Year Plan" (There is also a Silver Medal) which was awarded by the authorities of Sofia.

These Medals were issued in plastic pouches without suspensions, which is why they are not usually seen.

The Gold Order "Jubilee". An exceptionally strange award. Awarded in celebration of the 15th anniversary of the founding of "Signal".

The Gold Badge of the State Economic Association "Electron" awarded 7th April 1989.

His Badge "Excellent In Mechanical Engineering".

An award of the "Federation Of Trade Unions Of Organisations Of Mechanical Engineering" which was set up in 1987 after the dissolving of the Ministry Of Mechanical Engineering on 24th March 1986.

Due to the vast reshuffles of Ministries in the last few years of the People's Republic nearly all of the awards awarded were by Trade Union organisations continuing awards established by former ministries (often with no design change). Often with the exact same criteria and authority.
