Failed the inspection!
Hey fellow members! Let's have fun and share pics from our collection where we can see a violation to regulations for uniform or wearing awards on uniform. Anything like left and right shoulder boards mismatch, to not properly wearing the uniform, awards not positioned properly, etc..
If you have any details about name and rank, year of pics, etc.. please include them. We'll call those indisciplined men to the headquarter for some scolding and show them the proper way! To start it, I'm calling Aviation Colonel Konchits, Ivan Alekseevich for lack of discipline in wearing his awards in the reverse order of precedence. (photo 1950). Re: Failed the inspection!
Hmmm... Isn't it only a way to wear them because of the jacket lapel... Something to be compared to the frack bars in Germany.
The Lenin is the highest on the chest, no ? Cheers. Ch. |

Re: Failed the inspection!
Here is a photograph of Lobzhanidze, Shalva Alekseevich (Лобжанидзе, Шалва Алексеевич) pre-war Minister Of Finance of the Adjar ASSR from a giant group I will post sometime this year.
Note the Medals are on the wrong side and also in reverse order. The photograph is not a mirror image as the CCCP on the Medal "For Combat Merits" shows.

Re: Failed the inspection!
That might be true, but if this was the case, then Marshal of Artillery Kazakov, Army General Petrov and Rear Admiral Karpenko (to name only them) would be wrong?

Re: Failed the inspection!
He must have dressed in the mirror. This 1957 photograph shows he'd even put the screwbacks on the wrong side.
His long service "Red Star" is the only award missing from the group (although I do have the original citation).

Actually, you mentioned the date 1950. Let's not forget that from the late 1940's, there were specific changes in some branches (in particular AF and Navy, but also tanks) and it all was somewhat of a mess until the 1955 regulation reorganized everything. Marc |

Re: Failed the inspection!
Lapa,
Could you please expand on this "regulation mess" between late 1940s and 1955. Does it mean there were no "proper" or "improper" way to wear awards? |

Matteti,
There were separate Prikazi published around 1948~49 for the Navy, the Air Force and the Armored forces. Amon other things, they introduced the double-breasted uniforms, whose type would be introduced for all branches in 1955 by Zhukov. I have not yet been able to find those specific prikazi (hint, if someone has any of them available, or a copy) so I cannot answer precisely your question, but it would seem logical that, dealing with a radically different type of uniform, there would be specific regulations as to the wearing of awards on it. Actually, I have found the scanned text of the Prikaz dated 13/9/1948, which states: Quote:
So, it seems that Colonel Konchits, Ivan Alekseevich, was following the then-current rules after all ;) Marc Last edited by CtahhR; 06-20-2014 at 11:32 AM. |

Re: Failed the inspection!
Okay. Apparently, there was an administrative error done, and after appealing to Marshal of the Forum Lapa, Colonel Konchits won his case and won't be disciplined. :D
However, I am still curious to see what members can find in their photo collection. Keep posting! :thumbsup |
