Short description of personal combat feat or accomplishment
The enemy opened up with heavy rifle and automatic weapons fire while attempting to break out of encirclement on 26.08.44, when providing security for an Observation Post (OP) Comrade Tereshchenko moved forward 250 meters during the enemy attack and opened fire with a machinegun fire, killing as many as 50 Germans. When his ammunition was expended Comrade Tereshchenko entered into hand-to-hand combat with fifteen Germans, eight of whomn he bayoneted to death and took seven prisoner. Comrade Tereshchenko is deserving of the Order of the Red Star.

Normsky, I would certainly vote for the ORB, but who knows, maybe an ORS was what a good private wanted because they did look really cool on the uniforms.;)

At the same time, a "secret" mission tended to involve more risk and be of more importance than your everyday "shoot to kill" routine. I guess we would have to know what he did for the second one.:confused:

Hi Norm,

I agree with you - I would have thought that this would attract a higher award. The deeds that led to the awarding of a medal/order seem to vary greatly e.g. just look at the citations for the BMs on site. I guess that, like a lot of things, the awards were subjective. In some locales they were "easy" and awarded lesser awards than others, and vice versa.
