I not have held such cap in my hands to speak about more of. Yes, maybe not bad. In any case, not without use and damages from bad storage place. It, my opinion that better than bad copy made in Russia by the deceitful busy hands with the false age and damages that on the ebay.:thumbsdown

I have a 1920s black leather hat in my collection. Unfortunately it is packed away at the moment. I do have this photo of a few of my hats though and it's in the group - it's on the second foam head from the left. Once I get everything set up in the next few months I'd be happy to take some good pics of it.

caps

Dave's cap is earlier, circa 1920; the one posted by Amerishaka looks like the 1930's style. i had a brown 1930's leather cap for an NKVD officer of motor troops ( entire uniform was leather) and I'll see if i can find shots of it.

Leather Visor

From what I can see of his collection, his hat is almost identical to my examples. I have one piece dated 1920 with a hammer/plow insignia inside the label and a nice enameled red star badge like the one in Dave's collection. My other leather visor is not dated and has a original painted hammer/plow cap badge attached. I actually acquired a few replica hammer/plow badges to compare and verify its authenticity. Anyway, nice collection Dave!

Dzerzhinsky,

Could you please post pictures (front, side, inside) of your cap made for the 1967 parade; I was offered something that purports to be it, but I'd like to check, if possible.

Nice caps you got, Dave.
BTW, which service branch does the red crown and green band cap belongs to? I have never seen it before!

peters

Here is yakov peters, deputy head of the Cheka, wearing a black leather "Cheka" cap. Note the hammer-plow cap badge and its odd placement.
