Invention Medal.
Here is the obscure Invention Medal (발명메달). Constructed from plated aluminium with a motif exaggerating the country's nuclear programme and the inscription "발명" (Invention). Other than the fact that this Medal is rather modern I have no other information on it at this time.

Re: Medal For Invention.
Sorry for my poor English. ;)
I meant that this must be rather rare, because there is not many people qualified to be able to accomplish anything within nucleus science in the DPRK. So if there's such a small amount of people able to do such things, there must be few Medals of Invention made. There can't be too much that you can "invent" in the DPRK. Even the infamous vinylon fabric was an Japanese invention. Last edited by GabrielMk3; 01-24-2012 at 10:51 AM. |

Re: Medal For Invention.
Perhaps the opposite is true: necessity may actually trigger a lot of creativity among Koreans? :o

I actually know myself that the DPRK'ians are VERY creative. I actually read a whole book about all the stuff they did to survive. Why not make it patented too? It actually makes a lot of sense... Quote:
With the Taepodong project in full movement, they have to educate a HUGE number of people with the right mind. I think we've all underestimated the DPRK a bit.... They did launch the Kwangmyŏngsŏng-2 satellite with the Taepodong-2. But the satellite failing mid-air is actually acceptable, since for a country as DPRK it's a big step. Yes, people die everyday in the DPRK. But still. Which other country has accomplished all the things that DPRK has done? And a country "at the same" level would never make it. |

Re: Medal For Invention.
Although I have not yet got a firm date on the creation of this Medal, Decree #112 of 13th May 2009 of the Supreme People's Assembly Standing Committee Chapter 3 Article 19 states that successful inventors who have their patents officially verified will be awarded with the Medal For Invention and certificate.
