Prize Of State Of The Romanian People's Republic.

Just saw this medal for sale.

In my many years of collecting this is the first time I observe Romanian State Prize award for sale.

Has anyone seen one before?

William

Seller states this is 1st class, made of gold.

according to the seller, this is "Romania Order "State Award of the People's Republic of Romania (RPR)" 1950"

Anyone has any statistics on Romanian State Prizes?

Thanks,
William

State Prize of Romania

William,
That is an interesting Medal. I haven't found any statistics as yet but amongst others Virgiliu Nicolae Constantinescu a Member of the Romanian Academy was awarded the State Prize of Romania.
Also the Romanian tenor, Nicolae Herlea was awarded the State Prize in 1964.
Nicolae Tipei was awarded the State Prize of the Romanian Republic in 1956, for scientific activity and in 1964 was elected a corresponding member of the Romanian Academy.
Mihai Draganescu another member of the Romanian Academy, an Engineer, philosopher and essayist was awarded the State Prize Laureate for works in semiconductor devices in 1964.
Zaharia Stancu won the Romanian State Prize for Literature.
In 1966 A. E. Ignatenko (USSR) was awarded the State Prize of Romania so the Title is not just restricted to Romanian nationals

Is the title of this award just State Prize of Romania?
It seems there were various State Prizes not unlike the Soviet system of awarding.

Eddie.

NOt belonging to this tread but...

I have to give a little credit to Taz. I´m amazed of all info you provide in various subjects. I don´t think there is anyone more researching than this member. Keep up the good work. It´s very nice to read about your findings.
Best

Eddie,

Great info, many thanks!

The reverse of the medal reads - "State Prize of the Peoples Republic of Romania". I am not aware of any other Romanian prizes.
